Nella sua attività sperimentale ha attraversato con risultati di grande interesse la scultura e le performance art, ma il terreno che privilegia è quello della pittura. Qui fa pulsare la superficie di elementi formali (molte volte legati al mondo della natura, spesso a quello della fantasia). Che emergono da una profondità per affermarsi all’interno della tela o della carta come autentiche “presenze”.                      

E’ presente dal 1984 in svariate occasioni espositive, personali e collettive in Italia e all’estero (  Austria, Bulgaria, Croazia, Danimarca, Estonia, Finlandia, Germania, Giordania, Inghilterra, Libano, Polonia, Olanda, Repubblica Ceka, Siria, Slovenia, Spagna, Turchia, Ungheria e USA).

Born in Nicosia (Sicily) in 1958, Pippo Altomare has been exhibiting in one-man and group shows since 1984, with exhibitions both in Italy and abroad ( Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Jordan, Lebanon, Holland, Poland, Czech Republic, Syria, Slovenia, Turkey, Hungary and U.S.A.).

He lives in Sicily and teaches at the Academy of Fine Art of Lecce.

His career has included rich phases of experimentation in the fields of sculpture and performance art, but his first love remains painting.

The surfaces of his paintings pulse with forms (many times taken from the natural world but just as often from that of the imagination) which emerge from the depths to make themselves felt as very real “presences” at the heart of his works on canvas or paper.
